POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Development Associate
FOCUS: Capital Campaign
DEPARTMENT: Development
SUPERVISOR: Director of Development
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full time/Exempt

The Crocker Art Museum is seeking a fund raising professional to manage the Capital Campaign, including all administrative aspects and the cultivation and solicitation of qualified prospects. This function is also responsible for managing the development aspects of events, including committee member relationships, sponsorships and ticket sales. Qualifications include:

  • Two to three years experience working in an environment requiring relationship management, cold calling, prospect research and solicitation of funds.
  • Must have a strong desire and ability to solicit people for donations and to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment.

PRIMARY FOCUS:
Managing all administrative aspects of the expansion Campaign.

Cultivating and soliciting individual and corporate prospects for involvement specifically in the Campaign and the Museum.

Stewarding existing campaign donors to increase and broaden their involvement in the Crocker.

Managing development aspects of events, including committee member relationships, sponsorships, and ticket sales.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Managing the Major Gifts Access Committee, building interest and motivation with the Committee as the Campaign enters a new phase.
  • Organizing and managing data related to prospect briefings and hard hat tours.
  • Overseeing a variety of communication needs including follow-up letters, Director’s notes and solicitation letters.
  • Conducting research on individuals and corporations who might be prospects for Campaign gifts.
  • Working with community volunteers to brief, tour and solicit prospects.
  • Working cross departmentally to manage the broader community phase of the Campaign.
  • Ensuring information on Campaign donors and prospects is up-to-date and complete in Crocker’s database, adding to records when new information becomes available.
  • Assisting in transitioning the messages of the Campaign once the building is completed, but additional funds still need to be raised.
  • Managing committee member involvement and relationships for assigned Crocker fundraising events.
  • Directing event ticket sales for assigned Crocker fundraising events.
  • Ensuring sponsorships are sold and corporate relationships managed for assigned Crocker fundraising events.
  • Working closely with the Crocker facilities use team to ensure fundraising events are flawless.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
BA or equivalent.

Two to three years experience working in a relationship management environment or one requiring cold calling, prospect research, and solicitation of funds. Direct fund raising experience preferred.

Ability and desire to solicit people for donations on behalf of the Crocker.

Excellent verbal and written skills.

Savvy people skills.

Ability to anticipate and appropriately respond to issues and needs.

Desire to learn and work within a fast-paced, demanding environment.

Experience networking and building relationships with people in the community.

Dedicates time and effort to ensure details are addressed.

Efficient and effective organizational skills.

Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.

Ability to manage confidential information.

Must have own vehicle transportation.
