Bestselling Author Susan Vreeland
Holds Two Programs in Sacramento
Thursday, May 5 at 4 PM and 7 PM

March 14, 2005 – Sacramento , Calif. – The Crocker Art Museum and the Sacramento Public Library Foundation will host a reading and lecture by bestselling author, Susan Vreeland. She will discuss her latest novel, The Forest Lover, and a new collection of short stories, Life Studies, at the Tsakopoulos Library Galleria, Thursday, May 5 at 4 PM and 7 PM .

Author Susan Vreeland has won critical acclaim for her previous novels Girl in Hyacinth Blue and The Passion of Artemisia. Vreeland has received numerous praises for her sensitive, insightful portrayal of artists and the lives their works have touched. In her new novel, The Forest Lover, the life of a little-known Canadian artist, Emily Carr, comes alive once again under Vreeland’s romantic, perceptive prose. Drawing on Carr’s numerous journals, the novel recreates the extraordinary life of a woman who defies society through her courageous journey into the Canadian wilderness to find her voice and true calling as an artist.

Susan Vreeland will also conduct a book signing from 3-3:45 PM and from 6-6:45 PM. Admission is $20 and Crocker members and Library sponsors receive a $5 discount. To make reservations, call (916) 264-7789 or (916) 264-2739, or purchase at the Museum Front Desk.
