Crocker Art Museum Receives National Award for its Member Magazine from the American Association of Museum’s Publication Competition

April 28, 2005 – Sacramento, Calif. – The Crocker Art Museum was awarded Honorable Mention for its members magazine, ArtLetter, in the 25th annual AAM Museum Publications Design Competition, which drew more than 900 entries from museums across the country.

The American Association of Museums’ “Pub Comp” acknowledges excellence in the graphic design of museum publications and is the only national, juried event involving publications produced by museums of all types and sizes.

The Crocker’s ArtLetter was named as Honorable Mention in the category of magazines for museums with budgets of more than $500,000. First prize in the category went to the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore and second prize was given to Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York.

“An award from AAM’s Design Competition is very prestigious in the museum field,” said Lial Jones, Director, Crocker Art Museum. “More than 16,000 institutions are eligible to compete for this award. This recognition speaks to the professionalism and talent exhibited by our dedicated staff.”
