Crocker Art Book Fair September 8
August 29, 2007 – Sacramento, Calif. – Hundreds of special art-related books for adults and children plus rare and out-of-print art books and “Make A Book!” a hands-on activity for children and adults will be part of the second annual Crocker Art Book Fair from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 8, in the Crocker Art Museum’s Courtyard.
International publishers, including Abrams, DAP, Gingko, Phaidon, Pomegranate and Taschen, will be represented at the free-admission Fair, co-sponsored by the Museum and the Art Service Group. Accessories for the reader and collector will also be available.
Purchase something at the Fair to get free admission to the Museum to see Grandma Moses: Grandmother to the Nation on its opening day and revisit Skinned: The Art of Robert Cremean, closing September 9.
Programs during the day will feature print and bookmaker Emily Wilson, a professor of printmaking at Sacramento City College, speaking on “The Book as Art” at 11 a.m., and at 2 p.m., Sacramento photographer/writer Mary Swisher and her co-publishers, printer Richard Dickover and book designer L.J. Dillon, will discuss their collaborative efforts to create the limited-edition art book, The Stones of Mani: Views of the Southern Peloponnese.
Author Victoria Covell of Nevada City, will read from her book Spirit Animals at 2:30 p.m. as part of the children's book reading circle that will also feature Emma Moore, Education Program Manager, reading at 11:30 a.m. Hands-on art activities will take place from noon to 3 p.m. For more information, please call (916) 264-5531.
The Crocker Art Museum was founded in 1885 and continues as the leading art institution for the California Capital Region and Central Valley. The Museum offers a diverse spectrum of special exhibitions, events and programs to augment its collections of California, European and Asian artworks.
