Crocker’s Third Thursday Jazz
Summer Concert Series Moves to
Crocker Park May–September

April 3, 2008 – Sacramento, Calif. – An all-star cast of jazz musicians are slated to perform during the Crocker Art Museum’s popular Third Thursday Jazz Summer Concert Series. Due to construction for the Museum’s expansion, the concerts will take place in Crocker Park, accommodating more attendees. Concerts are held on the third Thursday of the month May through September from 5:30-8 p.m. Seating will be provided, but guests are welcome to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Light refreshments and beverages are available for purchase. Concerts are free to members of the Crocker and $10 for nonmembers.

The Garrett Perkins Project will open the series on May 15. With a versatile range from bebop to modern contemporary jazz, the Garrett Perkins Project is dedicated to promoting music that is at once educational and entertaining.

On June 19, guitarist Iván Nájera will have the crowd on their feet dancing to his Spanish and Latin-influenced jazz rhythms.

Guitarist and singer Perry Mills leads his band in playing rock-rooted and jazz-schooled music on July 17. Grammy-nominated solo bassist Michael Manring will lend his innovative sound.

Saxophonist Ben Luco and his band, the Funky Divine, will perform an upbeat mix of jazz, blues, R&B and funk on August 21.

Contemporary jazz guitarist Peter Morgan and his ensemble will perform light and breezy instrumental jazz with a coastal island flavor on September 18.

The Third Thursday Jazz Summer Concert Series is supported in part by 94.7 KSSJ, Renwood Winery, Rubicon Brewing Co. and Pepsi. For more information, call (916) 808-7000 or visit crockerartmuseum.org/jazz.
