The Crocker Celebrates New Exhibition with Warner Brothers Film Festival
View Warner Brothers' classic feature films at the Sacramento Guild Theatre on Saturday, November 22
August 28, 2008 - Sacramento, Calif. - Experience Warner Bros. cartoons as they were originally viewed - on the big screen. As part of the upcoming The Art of Warner Bros. Cartoons exhibition, the Crocker Art Museum invites Sacramentans to watch the evolution of their favorite WB characters, from the studio's early animated shorts to the feature-length films of the late 1990s. Acclaimed as America's finest, funniest and most inventive animated shorts, Warner Bros. animation stands among the most famous art ever produced in California. Stay for one, two or all three film screenings.
Starting at 1 p.m, join Bugs Bunny, the Road Runner, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig and others in some of the most famous short films ever made. At 2:15 p.m., enjoy Warner Bros. first feature-length film, Space Jam in a rare big screen presentation. In this flick NBA star Michael Jordan helps the Looney Toons characters play basketball against aliens. The final film, The Iron Giant, will start at 4 p.m. This Warner Bros. cult classic, starring Jennifer Aniston, Harry Connick Jr. and Vin Diesel, tells the tale of a boy who makes friends with a complex and misunderstood giant alien robot.
Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Wile E. Coyote and their comrades come together in the Crocker's The Art of Warner Bros. Cartoons exhibition, a comprehensive overview of the legendary Hollywood animation studio and rambunctious birthplace of characters that have become part of American folklore. Consisting of more than 160 drawings, paintings, animation cels and related art objects used in the making of Warner's classic cartoons, the exhibition traces the development of all of Warner's cartoon stars and provides a step-by-step breakdown of how classical cel animation is made. Catch Bugs and company November 14, 2008 - January 11, 2009.
