FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Second Seminar Offered of Financial and Legal Planning for Same-Sex Couples Wednesday, May 6, 4-5:30 p.m. at the Crocker Art Museum April 1, 2009 – Sacramento, Calif. – Due to popular demand, the Crocker Art Museum will host a second session of “Financial and Legal Planning for Same-Sex Couples,” an informative and interactive seminar specifically addressing complicated estate and financial planning issues for same-sex couples. Attorney Penny R. Brown and financial planner Rebecca E. Harper will lead the presentation at the Museum on Wednesday, May 6, 4-5:30 p.m. As a partner in a same-sex relationship what will happen to your assets, your partner and your personal wishes if something happens to you? Learn effective estate planning and financial strategies, including, how to hold title to assets, provide for loved ones and utilize charitable giving as a tool to avoid estate tax, capital gains tax and income taxes. Brown is a member of the Estate Planning and Probate legal team at the Sacramento office of McDonough Holland & Allen PC. Brown’s practice focuses on revocable and irrevocable trust planning for married, single and same-sex couples and post-death administration for estates and trusts. Harper is the managing partner of Harper Davis Financial in Sacramento. Harper Davis is considered the premier financial planning and tax firm for same sex couples. During her 31 years in practice, Harper has attained many industry designations and awards, along with teaching and continued education with Certified Life Underwriters and Certified Financial Planners, most recently at Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. The Crocker Art Museum was founded in 1885 and continues as the leading art institution for the California Capital Region and Central Valley. The Museum offers a diverse spectrum of special exhibitions, events and programs to augment its collections of California, European and Asian artworks. The Crocker is located at 216 O Street in Downtown Sacramento. Museum hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday-Sunday; 1st and 3rd Thursdays until 9 p.m. Free admission on Sundays from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. is made possible through the support of Bank of America.
