FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Crocker’s Classical Concert Features June 4, 2009 – Sacramento, Calif. – Enjoy the amorous compositions of Liszt, Mendelssohn, Schubert and others with pianist Natsuki Fukasawa. On Sunday, August 23, 3 p.m., Fukasawa will perform an all romantic program entitled, ”The Last Rose of Summer,” for the Crocker’s Classical Concert series at Sacramento State. An acclaimed performer, The Washington Post has praised Fukasawa’s playing as both “powerful and convincing.” Her career has taken her around the globe as both soloist and chamber musician. Her recent performances include a tour of Italy performing Gershwin’s Concerto in F with Maestro Leo Eylar and the California Youth Symphony as well as performances of Beethoven’s Triple Concerto, Liszt’s Totentanz and Saint-Säens’ Carnival of the Animals. A Fulbright Scholar, Fukasawa is a graduate of and the Prague Academy of Music. She also recently received her doctorate from the University of Maryland. A devoted teacher, she gives private lessons and has also held teaching posts at Sacramento State and St. Mary’s College of California in Moraga, For more than 50 years, the Museum has hosted internationally renowned and talented local musicians for Crocker Classical Concerts. Due to construction for the Museum’s expansion, the concerts now take place on the California State University, Sacramento, campus in Capistrano Hall. Concerts are held on the fourth Sunday of every month from 3-4 p.m. and are free to members of the Crocker Art Museum, $12 for nonmembers and $5 for students and seniors. Free parking is available in Parking Structure I, which is adjacent to the Hall. Crocker Classical Concerts are supported in part by Capital Public Radio. The Crocker Art Museum was founded in 1885 and continues as the leading art institution for the California Capital Region and Central Valley. The Museum offers a diverse spectrum of special exhibitions, events and programs to augment its collections of California, European and Asian artworks. Museum hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday-Sunday; 1st and 3rd Thursdays until 9 p.m. Free admission on Sundays from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. is made possible through the support of Bank of America.
