The Crocker Art Museum and Citizen Hotel Form Exclusive Partnership
Sacramento’s Leading Arts and Hospitality Venues
Offer Guests Exclusive Access to West Coast’s Premier Museum
September 14, 2009 – Sacramento, CA – The Crocker Art Museum today announced a partnership with the Citizen Hotel, making Sacramento’s newest boutique hotel the exclusive hospitality partner of the premier art museum serving California’s capital region. Guests at The Citizen Hotel have the opportunity to create a seamless vacation package including deluxe accommodations and admission to the museum, as well as private docent tours for groups. The partnership is especially exciting for art and history lovers looking to visit the Crocker’s much-anticipated fall 2009 exhibit, Treasures, Curiosities and Secrets: The Crockers and the Gilded Age, opening on November 6.
"The Citizen's unique offerings and commitment to Sacramento's history make it a perfect partner for the Crocker Art Museum," said Lial A. Jones, director, Crocker Art Museum. "We look forward to jointly hosting visitors to share with them a one-of-a-kind view of California history and architecture that can only be seen at the Crocker and the Citizen."
The partnership with the Crocker Art Museum is seen as an extension of the hotel’s involvement in the city’s burgeoning art scene, bringing art lovers from around the state to California’s state capital to experience the collections at the oldest continuously operating art museum in the West. The museum, which is housed in one of the finest examples of Victorian Italianate architecture in the United States, offers a diverse spectrum of special exhibitions, events and programs to augment its collections of California, European and Asian artworks and International Ceramics. The museum boasts one of the state’s premier collections of California art, world-renowned master drawings, and significant holdings of Asian art and international ceramics. A planned 125,000-square-foot expansion scheduled for completion in 2010 will triple its size, improve visitor amenities, quadruple changing exhibition space and allow more of the permanent collection to be on view.
The Citizen Hotel is Sacramento’s first boutique hotel and the first Central Valley property for Joie de Vivre, California’s largest boutique hotel collection. Located downtown in the historic 1925 Cal Western Life Insurance Building, the 198-room Citizen Hotel is just a short two blocks away from the state capitol on the corner of 10th and J streets. The hotel’s modern design complements the building’s original architectural elements, including a mansard roof, grand center staircase and marble walls. Located adjacent to The Citizen Hotel is Grange Restaurant & Bar devoted to serving the finest in regional, seasonal and sustainable produce, meats and seafood as prepared under the supervision of Michael Tuohy, among the nation’s top 100 chefs. For more information on The Citizen Hotel, please visit citizenhotel.com or call (916) 447-2700.
