A Docent is a volunteer guide, specially trained to support visitors as they look at and learn about art. The Crocker’s Docent Council includes 100 active docents who host, educate and interpret the Museum’s collection and history for visitors.

The Crocker Docent Council is a committed, hardworking group of men and women who come from diverse backgrounds, but they all share a common enthusiasm for learning, art and people. For more information on becoming a Crocker Docent, download a brochure, or contact Stacy Beckley at 916.808.1182.

Art Service Group
The Art Service Group was formed in 1963 by dedicated volunteer Maude T. Pook. The group’s mission is to raise monies for the special needs of the Museum, as designated by the Museum Director. Since its initiation, ASG has raised more than $500,000 for the Museum. Sacramento Mayor Jimmie Yee presented a resolution honoring ASG for its support of the Crocker in June 2000.

Traditionally, ASG holds two annual fundraising events: Evaluation Days, which is held twice monthly September through May and provides informal appraisals for antiques and art objects; and The Antiques Show and Sale, which is held in October.

The ASG Board meets eight times each year to direct the activities of the group. There are three divisions of ASG members: active, associate and sustaining. A membership fee does apply. For information on joining, contact Pat Gedestad at 916.442.0229.
