Careers in Art: Portfolio Basics

If you are a college-bound artist or career-minded teen, this class will help you build a professional-quality portfolio. Commit to structured time to focus on creating artwork for your portfolio with guidance and feedback from a professional artist. Draw and paint still lifes, figure models, portraits, and landscapes using traditional and non-traditional media. Drawing and painting experience is recommended.

About the Instructor:
Jaime Shilen received his bachelor's and master's in art education from Buffalo State College in New York. A teacher of 12 years, Shilen is currently the art teacher at Toby Johnson Middle School in the Elk Grove Unified School District. Shilen has also worked for the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York and as a teaching artist and member of a satellite art program for at-risk inner city students, ART ATTACK! He encourages and inspires students to develop their own personal style of creativity.
