The Art of Warner Bros. Cartoons

November 14 – January 11, 2009

Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Wile E. Coyote and their comrades come together in The Art of Warner Bros. Cartoons, a comprehensive overview of the legendary Hollywood animation studio and rambunctious birthplace of characters that have become part of American folklore. Since 1930, the "Looney Tunes" and "Merrie Melodies" of Warner Bros. have delighted audiences young and old with their wit and surprising sophistication. Acclaimed as America's finest, funniest and most inventive animated shorts, Warner Bros. animation stands among the most famous art ever produced in California. Consisting of more than 160 drawings, paintings, animation cels and related art objects used in the making of Warner's classic cartoons, the exhibition traces the development of all of Warner's cartoon stars and provides a step-by-step breakdown of how classical cel animation is made.
