The Crocker recently launched an Artist in Residence program to bring new vision to Museum visitors and the community. The Fresh A.I.R. initiative partners four contemporary artists with the Museum to serve the public through educational programs and to build the Museum’s collection of contemporary art.

To launch Fresh A.I.R., the Crocker received a $30,000 grant from the James Irvine Foundation, which will help purchase works of art and provide modest stipends to the selected artists during their residencies. The Museum hopes to raise additional funds to move forward with the full scope of the program, and we are happy to announce that we made the first art acquisition in April. Private eye-public me by Mildred Howard is currently on view in the Ose Gallery and will comprise an important part of our collection for years to come.

Many members have already graciously given funding support for the Fresh A.I.R. campaign. We hope everyone will join us in the coming year to welcome the Fresh A.I.R. artists at Museum programs and take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to connect living artists and the community.

Bring Fresh A.I.R. to the Crocker!

Those who donate $100 or more to this effort will be invited to special receptions preceding the meet-the-artist lectures (see schedule below). To contribute to the Fresh A.I.R. campaign, send a check payable to CAMA to:
