    The Luster of Ages
Ancient Glass from the Marcy Friedman Collection
    July 17, 2016 — October 16, 2016

Known in Egypt in the time of the Pharoahs, glass was used in the ancient world for beads, vessels, and eventually small windows. This exhibition explores glass vessels that have miraculously survived the ages, from the 6th century BCE to the 10th century CE. All from the eastern Mediterranean, they reflect the forms and influences of Greek, Roman and Phoenician cultures in the Holy Land. From brightly colored miniature amphoras to lustrous perfume bottles, a beautiful variety of ancient glass is revealed here.
