The live cinema presentation Open Country examines the social, political, and historical roots of country-western music through archival footage; conversations with folklorists, historians, and fans; and the music itself. University of California, Davis professors Glenda and Jesse Drew will share excerpts of their film and discuss their research, accompanied by live music performances by local honky-tonk favorites The Alkali Flats. Presented in collaboration with the Center for Sacramento History. Space is limited.
