Try your hand at the elegant technique of Chinese brush painting while also exploring its historical context and significance. Learn about the "Four Gentlemen" of virtue: the bamboo, orchid, chrysanthemum, and prune. These symbols represent the essential techniques and styles that are necessary as a foundation for practicing and understanding Chinese brush painting and calligraphy.

About the Instructor: 

After earning a fine arts degree at California State University, Sacramento, Lillian Seto spent six years receiving specialized training in Chinese traditional brush painting under private masters in Taiwan and at Beijing's Central Art Academy in China. She has taught the subject for more than 25 years, and she and her students have exhibited extensively in the region.
