Public Art WalkaboutFor Adults

Four Thursdays, May 2 - 23
5:30 - 8:30 PM

Learn about the history and significance of muralism and check out local public murals. Analyze the visual elements that successfully convey a concept and how the setting shapes the concept. Gain experience in all aspects of collaborative art-making, from idea generation to finished product. Working as a team, the class will develop a mural concept, prepare a proposal, present it to "clients," and then execute the mural in the Crocker's Education Center for display. Experience in drawing and painting is required.

About the Instructor: 

Marsha Schindler has been an exhibit designer, educator, and muralist for more than 15 years. She has a master's in art from California State University, Long Beach. Currently she teaches at the Art Institute of California – Sacramento.
