Thursday, December 6
7 PM
Norman Rockwell makes his only acting appearance as poker player "Busted Flush" in this remake of the 1939 Academy Award-winning classic about unlikely traveling companions sharing a stagecoach en route to Cheyenne. For this film, Rockwell painted 20 oil portraits of the starring actors (see them in the clip below), as well as the promotional poster featuring the stagecoach. Film scholar Kristen Anderson Wagner will introduce the film and discuss the importance Rockwell and other illustrators in the creation of some of Hollywood's most iconic promotional posters. Wagner received her Ph.D. from the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts. Space is limited.
