Branches of Love: Painting Your Family Tree

If you love genealogy or scrapbooking, this class offers the opportunity to create a one-of-a-kind expression of your ancestry, a mixed-media family tree. After viewing Norman Rockwell's painting Family Tree as well as sharing personal photographs and other sources of inspiration, you will learn the basics of acrylic painting, including color mixing, depicting light and shadow for volume effects, and how to capture different tree characteristics and details. Complete your tree with family photographs and memorabilia.

About the Instructor:
Patris left the education profession in 2004 to pursue her art full time. She has recently been juried into several national plein air painting competitions and her work is in many private and public collections. She served on the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission and is a member of the California Art Club, the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association, and Landscape Artists International. Patris will also teach Rockwellian Self Portraiture.
