Still Life in Pastel

Oil pastels are a drawing medium similar to crayons or chalk, but with more painterly results. Observe how light and dark areas are represented in color in the galleries, learn composition and design principles in creating an arrangement, and experiment using wet and dry oil pastels to achieve different effects.

About the Instructor:
Kristine Bybee is a native of Sacramento and was educated in Los Angeles. She regularly exhibits her paintings in local and regional galleries, most recently at the Pence Gallery in Davis, and her work is in private and corporate collections. She is an art educator at the community college level and maintains an active practice of producing work for exhibition. Bybee will co-teach The Power of Place: Capturing the Commonplaces of America with Jill Pease.
